Minutes for TRDMA meeting 12-2-2008

Meeting called to order at 7:40 pm

Financial Report was read

 

Old Business

Computer has been picked out and Susan Allmeroth will purchase with TRDMA money for the secretary to use for TRDMA club business.  Susan Allmeroth motioned to purchase the Dell laptop and Becky Cummings seconded.

 

Web Forms – reported upon by Heather Rogers.  Pay pal has been added to TRDMA.org

TRDMA’s new website design is up and running.  Swanny will continue to volunteer his time to keep the website organized at his convenience.

 

Tent – no progress from last months meeting.  Heather will pursue donation from Alaska Tent and Tarp toward the tent frame in exchange for membership.    14x16x5. 

 

Tami Rego officially stepped down as TRDMA secretary.  Stephanie Ehlenfeldt volunteered and was appointed by the club.

 

It was suggested that TRDMA be a member of M.U.S.H. With Pride.  Stephanie Ehlenfeldt motioned yes, Bucky Cummings seconded.

 

Committee Reports

Frosty Dog discussion – Bob Metcalf suggested bringing the race trail through the Chena Flood Plane to attract spectators from North Pole and Eielson Air Force Base.  Bob also suggested the third stage of race be an original order start, not standings as the race committee had written in the rules.  The race committee will meet with Bob on 12-8-06 to discuss further suggestions.

 

Tune Up – 10 dog was reduced to 8 dog for the 20 mile leg due to lack of snow and safety concerns.  Trail markers will be put up by Mike Green and Jason Weitzel and taken down by Bruce Wright.

 

Benevolent Fund – No new news.

 

Sponsorship – Surveyer’s Exchange thank-you’s have been sent by Val Mackler.  A thank you to Dr. Olson was sent.  Val will write to loyal yearly sponsors.

It was suggested that Bruce and Mariska be given club membership for donating their time and also for donating products from their store The What-Not Shop.  This was followed up with a discussion regarding the addition of a Membership Donation category to be added to the existing sponsorship levels that would specifically regulate who may qualify for this sponsorship category.

 

PR – Rod Boyce will prioritize TRDMA function announcements and results in the Newsminer.  Flyers were hung in various Fairbanks businesses for the Solstice and Tune-Up races.

 

Youth Program – The TRDMA youth members helped with the rabies clinic and wrote a thank you to Pleasant Valley Store for donating space and to Dr. Olson for holding the event which benefited TRDMA.

 

New Business

Membership Donation category to sponsorship list.

Straw for Solstice update. Cold Spot is holding straw for TRDMA.

Raffle Tickets still available for sale.

Volunteers needed for Tune-Up and Solstice 100          

Snowmachine is running great now that it has correct oil.
